Trace is an untraditional quilted rug that combines a soft appearance with a rigorous graphic pattern and aesthetic color combinations. The pattern is inspired by flowing forms or wind blown sand. Trace is the result of a blend of digital manufacturing and craftwork. In production, the pattern is applied to the surface with the aid of digital quilting machines and tenter frames. The flat textile basis of the rug sandwiched with a quilted surface gives rise to a voluminous material. The result is a rug with a cushioning effect that feels soft under the feet and provides a stable underlay. The project was created in cooperation with Hanna Emelie Ernsting.
